Portraits: Lee Jeffries solo exhibition in Paris

Lee Jeffries is a renowned British photographer best known for his pictures of the homeless.
His photographs portray the gravity of real human relationships. He knows each of his subjects personally – sometimes even sleeping rough, sharing the brutality of the street. For him it is the only way to build a real relationship and thus give life to his portraits. Lee’s incredible photographs exude a moving sensitivity, capturing the universal beauty of humanity in its most dramatic form.
Lee Jeffries was born in 1971 in Manchester where he still lives and works.. He is a self-taught artist who started an extraordinary love affair with the homeless about fifteen years ago. He collaborated with Jef Aerosol one of the most famous French street artists in 2015. This resulted in an exhibition duo ‘Synergy’, presented at the Mathgoth Gallery in Paris.

Lee Jeffries will exhibit in Paris from March 9th at the Mathgoth Gallery

It will be the second time ‘Galerie Mathgoth’ will host this amazingly talented British photographer. Portraits, his solo exhibition will present about twenty prints in both color and black and white.

“Portraits” by Lee Jeffries

“Portraits” by Lee Jeffries

Lee celebrates the unique character of human emotions, playing constantly with light and shadows. He touches on the religious, spiritual and metaphysical in these new portraits which can not fail to move you.
Lee demonstrates the brutality of loneliness and despair with incredible sensitivity. Each of his photos is a poem, an ode to humanity, in what is often the most terrible and moving of circumstances. I can not help but think of the French “Poetes maudits” each time I see one of his works. I imagine poems by Rimbaud and Baudelaire expressed in visual form.
Lee Jeffries is a true poet, a unique artist, using his camera rather than his pen to convey his story.
In short, an exhibition not to be missed.
