Australian Street Artists you absolutely need to know
For many years Australia has been an abundant source of talent in the world of street art and Graffiti. Here’s my selection of 40 of the most prominent Australian street artists that you must absolutely know!
You can imagine the difficulty of comprising a “best artists list”, as it’s obviously subjective. Although my list is not complete of the vast amount of talent there is in Australia, however i have chosen these artists from a mix of established street art “stars” and also up and coming new artists who will undoubtedly become “stars” in the very near future. Enjoy!
Adnate is an Australian street artist that realises his portraits in spray paint. He has moved past his roots in Street Art, utilising the medium to carry his realist style into the fine art realm. Strongly influenced by renaissance painters like Caravaggio, Adnate embraces portraiture like the masters of the XXI Century.
Amok Island (born in Amsterdam) is a multi-disciplinary urban artist from the Netherlands, based in Fremantle, Western Australia

Anthony Lister is an Australian-born painter and Installation artist. He has been featured in exhibitions in Australia, New Zealand, and the United States, as well as had solo shows in New York City and London, England.

Iconic Australian Artist Anya Brock is best known for her spirited and bold use of colour and strokes, exploring the connection between amplification and emotional mark making, creating a distinctive visual language in all her work.

Beastman (Bradley Eastman) is a multidisciplinary artist from Sydney, Australia. Luke Cornish (ELK) is an Australian artist creating unique, powerful images from handmade stencils. His rise within the contemporary art world has been meteoric, becoming the first artist to be nominated for the Archibald Prize with a portrait created entirely out of stencils.
Fintan Magee is an Australian street artist famous for his murals throughout Australia and the world. Born in Lismore NSW, Fintan Magee moved to Brisbane as a child and began drawing shortly after. In his early teens he was exposed to Brisbane’s graffiti culture and began painting on walls.

Starting with his exposure in the 80s to hiphop and breakdance, and his subsequent involvement amongst the Perth graffiti scene of the early 1990s, Facter has been passionate about street art and illustration from an early age. For the past two decades he has studied art and the creative realm, and has over that time he has also produced a large body of work whilst residing across Far North Queensland, Boston, London and Perth.

JimmyC – James Cochran
James Cochran, aka Jimmy C participated in the graffiti movement in Australia during the early 1990s, and after working on numerous mural commissions and community arts projects, went on to complete a Masters degree in Visual Arts at the University of South Australia with an interest in figurative oil painting. JimmyC now lives in London and his canvases and walls can be viewed in cities across the world.
