I have pleasure in sharing with you, a recent interview by Thiago Goms an artist who creates amazing artworks mainly on the theme of cats! One of my favorite subjects! This is what he had to say for Streetart360 readers followed by a colorful gallery of inspiring murals all of which use the beautiful form of the cat!
Hi Thiago, great to meet you.
Hi my friend, nice to meet you too.
Where are you from?
I’m from São Paulo, Brazil.
How and when did you discover art and create your first artworks?
When I was kid I liked a lot to draw, Being the youngest of seven children, my elder brothers were thinking about adult things and my escape was to draw my world alone with the influence of tv cartoons.
Where was your first mural? Is it still available to see today?
I created my first graffiti on the wall of a school near where I lived though it doesn’t exist anymore.
Where can we discover your murals around the world ?
I have murals in Brazil and Europe in cities like São Paulo, Salvador, Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, Barcelona, Fanzara, Valencia, Munich, Berlin, Zagreb and Vienna.
What is your personal favorite mural artwork ?
I did one in Fanzara, Spain in 2015 and for me this wall it’s my favorite
Do you paint with spray cans or do you use any other techniques?
At the beginning I used spray cans, now I just use acrylic paint because I like the texture on the wall like when I paint on canvas.
Did you collab with other artists ? Do you have any artists you would like to collab with in the future?
When you paint graffiti it’s normal to collab with other artists, these days I’m trying to work solely, to understand my work better and create something new.
I like when I find some artists and we create an atmosphere with the artwork and technics completely different, like when I painted with my friend Emilio Cerezo in Spain,
His work and technical skills are very different but it’s all great.
At one time, a great collar for me would be with an artist that paints in abstract, like my friend Lobot from São Paulo.
Where do you get your inspiration ? Any specific message in your artwork?
I really like movies, animations, comics, music, so many things inspire me on the day,
My work it’s very influenced by my life and where I live.
Why so many cats?
The cats symbolise freedom in conception, their life is not domesticated which is what I strive for.
If you can describe yourself, would you say you’re a Street Artist, a Painter, an artist … or something else.
I’m an artist.
Do you have a “favorite” city where you love to paint ? Is there a dream place around the world you would like to go for a mural artwork?
I really like to paint everywhere but Brazil it’s my favorite place to paint although I would like to paint in Japan, I’ve never been there it would be cool.
Do you have any exhibitions and upcoming art fest in the future?
I have a small group exhibition in São Paulo next month
Thank’s a lot . Would you like to add anything else for Streetart360 readers?
Thank you, it’s a great pleasure for me to talk about my work in your project.
