The city’s buses and metro make it easy to explore. Not to be missed is  the newly opened Kelvingrove Art Museum, the Victorian Necropolis or delicious local specialties such as deep-fried pizzas. Glasgow is also the gateway to the Highlands and Islands.

In recent years, Glasgow has been awarded the title of European Capital of Culture (1990), City of Architecture and Design (1999). Since 2008, Glasgow has joined her neighboring city,  Edinburgh in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network by being named in the  Music category. Glasgow has an average of 130 musical events, including pop, rock, Celtic and opera concerts. It has been modernized from a powerful industrial city to a cultural and tourist center.
