Since I have been traveling throughout our European Cities in search of the wonders of urban art, sometimes it happens, and it is with my greatest delight, to come across a street art masterpiece.
A few months ago on a random walk in Huelva in Spain i discovered exceptional murals signed by Man O Matic.
I would like today for you to discover this Spanish artist full of talent and originality.
Pérez Vázquez (Man-o-matic) began his artistic career towards the year 2000, in his native city Huelva (Andalusia, Spain).
He was not a child especially interested in drawing and painting, but from a young age he showed a certain fascination with 3D animation, which will then be decisive in understanding his artwork.
Although considered self-taught in the artistic field of street art and graffiti, in his adolescence he has been in contact with some of Seville’s graffiti crews , in particular with Isidoro Halcón (Bece).
He graduated professionally as Graphic Designer and Higher Technician in image and sound. Along with his weekend job of DJ, graffiti was an important pass time of his. He fell in love quickly with graffiti , which led him to make it his full time profession.
In the last four years his artwork has evolved with a palpable development and refinement (stylistic and technical).
We can say that Man O Matic already owns a Pop-hyperrealist style, which is very recognizable and different from other street artists.
Man O Matic techniques « par excellence » is the aerosol (spray) in exterior murals and also canvas.
To realize his artwork he takes his inspiration on life, culture, society …
Some of his interventions and paintings have caused stupor and controversy, such as his “Monopoly” intervention, which disappeared only a week after being installed; Others have had an important social reception such as his mural: “Pure love” praised even by the followers of the internationally known artist Bansky or his particular vision of the celebrated work of Michelangelo’s David (Galleria della Academia, Florence) , Which is currently the largest graffiti ever made.
At present time Man O Matic exercises his art especially in Huelva and its province and also in other cities of Andalusia and Spain.
I’m sure, that in the future we’ll see his artwork in the Street Art Capital Cities such as Bristol, London, New York, Berlin, Paris …
Murals are awaiting for him and his talent !
He is undeniably not only one of the best Spanish graffiti artists, but one of the most creative, talented, original artist in Europe.
By now he already received the first prize of the Graffiti Contest Desencaja organized by the Andalusian Institute of Youth.
In 2013 he held his first exhibition “Common Portraits”. His second exhibition took place in April 2015: “Man-o-matic: selfieL” in the Museum of Huelva (Andalusia, Spain)
